Please share a little bit about your inspiration for your winning entry and your creative process

Well, I adamantly believe that God brought this drawing to my mind for this event many years ago.
Let me explain. I always draw different stuff by inspiration and by practice. I was reading my Bible and some verses speak about the Light of the world (which is Jesus) and how He rescues us from the dark, no mattering what we did. He is Almighty to save us and transform us. With that in my mind and heart, I did the pencil drawing. I always wanted to paint it but never did, I usually think if I don't paint a drawing it is because I'm lazy xD! But not this time. I was always developing other projects, then when I saw this contest something inside of me told me, "It's time".

Then all the colours, the scene, the effect, the message. Everything came into my mind. It's a work of two years practically. :D

Please tell us how long you have been an artist and how you got started with your skill.

Well, I think we all are artists from birth, we have this quality because we are made in the image and likeness of the Artist of the world and the expanding universe. I started designing things when I was a child  (since I can remember), drawing the first thing that came into my head, the typical family holding hands (stick drawings :D), rectangular houses, mountains of three triangles and clouds in spirals, simple little things. That was until high school, receiving constant jokes for the same act of drawing with sticks (Bullying!).
It was a day that my group of secular friends (which incidentally, have accounts here in deviantART too) insisted that I make my drawings deepen and start making contours, whole bodies and more “detailed” things. Also because I entered in the world of manga-anime (that explains my drawing style), I started to develop design skills by guidance characters I saw, making "fanarts" and stuff. Reaching a point a couple of years later, I started to develop my original characters. Calculating, since my 16 years, it took five years of practice (not constant).

What is your favorite Bible verse? Please explain why it is so meaningful to you.

This is difficult because God has spoken to me through many parts of His Word.
However, there is one that touches my spirit in a particular way and is in Romans 5:8, which states:
"But God demonstrates His love for us, because while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
This in one way or another is revealed to me daily; when I sin, either by thought, word or action (knowing the bad and sometimes through ignorance), I always see a perfect God, Holy, Good and many of the attributes that are only of Him, who sees me with love to the point where, even knowing all things that I would do throughout my life, sent His Son to die for me, and my Savior, accepting His purpose, with the same unique and incomparable love, died for me and every day He teaches me to walk beside Him and be like Him.
This helps me and I strive to lead a holy life, with reverence and awe, pleasing Him every day with everything I do, think and say.

If you could personally meet one character from the Bible, who would it be? Why?

Another difficult question :D I immediately think Jesus, but unlike other biblical characters, He is always with me and in fact, every day I know Him, when I am with Him in prayer and in His Word.
Then, it would be Paul, by his testimony. He was someone (declared by Jesus Himself) who persecuted the church, Jesus (Acts, 9: 1-9), but after his meeting with Him, he became one of the most loyal and valiant servants of the Lord. There is a part in the Scripture in Romans, 7:19-25, which states how difficult was for him to lead a holy life (in his forces), but within himself, his whole being was with Jesus Christ. I think many of us can identify with this wisdom from above, that no matter where we came from, or what is within us, there will always be an Almighty God, that did not call us perfect, but that can transform us and help us to reach the predestined purpose in our lives.

Please show us 4 deviations from your gallery that you feel best represent you.

I would like to show those who have a special impact on my life, but they are still in "projects" so... From what I've published so far, the best drawings who represent me are:

How do you personally use your artistic skill for the glory of God?

Personally, I try to display a message. The drawings I make, although showing one specific character, have their raison d'etre. All my characters are about several projects I'm doing, I'm writing novels. Then I design the characters to display them closer to the way they are in my mind and some of the scenes they perform in the stories. However, I also show, not as often as I would like, some drawings of maximum biblical inspiration, which have been revelations I had while I seek God in intimacy, in His Word, and try to place them as best I can on the paper. Beyond that "All glory belongs to God" in each of my drawings, I try to show a concrete message or at least related to the general idea of the stories my God has put in my heart since some years.
Actually my purpose is to use something so frowned upon (I say this from personal experience <and maybe, just because the place I live>) as is the manga/anime for the Glory of God. I have seen that many people do, but I feel that with God's help, I can go much further. Maybe in a few years you can see the testimony of all this work, which I will gladly share with you.

What is your favorite comfort food?

Okay, we continue with the tough questions ... :D
Let's see ... it's really hard because I like almost everything (or how little I eat, I like a lot)
Simple: Bread, eggs and pink sauce  I could eat happily with that :D
(Rice and beans, Arepa: All styles and stuffed!)

Can you give us 1 or 2 points of advice for aspiring Christian artists?

Of course! (More than 2 ;))

1. Keep your eyes on Jesus! I say this from experience: Is not easy to be popular on this page, or any means, being a Christian artist, because we do not focus to please the world or ourselves. Keep firm in your faith in Jesus Christ, that if you have received the call to reach people through art and its many derivations, He will take care of bringing you to where you should go. Knowing that you will do the best you can. Remember that if your inspiration comes from above, you'll reach people and will feel the joy and satisfaction of being useful instruments in God's hands.

2. Let your imagination flow. It is a gift of God. The inspiration of the great anthems, structures, scriptures, etc. They came from Him. But always maintain a "North" in His Word, which is our main guide and inspiration.

3. Pray. Surrender your skills to the Lord. He will show what you have to develop, and will speak to you and show you things that nobody else has seen. Things that were waiting for you to be asked.

4. Practice. And when you have done; practice again. If you decide to convert your art to glorify God, do it diligently, trying to do your best. I assure you, you will be surprised at the things that God will do through you.

5. And remember: All glory belongs to God...
