Jesus Christ Superstar

I found this image from a screenshot of the play Jesus Christ Superstar to be very intriguing and decided to draw it for a college art class. I used an interesting technique of melting the graphite of the pencil and rolling it on for the background (hence some of the odd areas around the figures where I tried to mask them out.)

I love this pic, because Jesus looks so serene and protective of the little girl (who has faith in Him that He will protect her) in the midst of all the hands...an island of calm and peace admist the storm...even if that isn't the actual intent of the scene in the play.
