"I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh" - Ezekiel 36:26

Monday night :: We had just finished witnessing in downtown Pittsburgh, and I was sitting in a car in front of my house, talking with my friend Lindsay. It wasn't long before the discussion fell on our spiritual walk, and I confessed that I envied her vitality and passion for the Lord, and how I had been missing something similar to that, lately.

I recall saying something about wanting nothing more than for the Lord to work my heart. As I said this, I had this abstract vision, (which isn't uncommon; Though I don't know whether it's of the Spirit or just my imagination.)

It was of a still human heart, greyed and plated with stone. Then the stone began to crackle and chip away, revealing the living organ beneath it. The "arteries" were actually a vine, which I saw to be what had been breaking away the heart's hard encasing. It was a figurative fusion of the concept of Christ as the True Vine and the Spiritual circumcision of the human heart.

I chewed on the idea for awhile, and when I realised that I still had a blank canvas that I'd bought over a year ago, I dusted off my paints and put it to use.

I enjoyed doing this. It's been about a year since I picked up a paintbrush, and I haven't even used acrylics since High School. Painting's always been very relaxing for me (it could just be the fumes, haha.) ... Either way, it was much needed. :)
