"The reward of being 'faithful over a few things' is just the same as being 'faithful over many things' ; for the emphasis falls upon the same word; it is the 'faithful' who will enter 'into the joy of their Lord.'"- Charles S. Robinson
I suspect that most of the individuals who have religious faith are content with blind faith. They feel no obligation to understand what they believe. They may even wish not to have their beliefs disturbed by thought. But if God in whom they believe created them with intellectual and rational powers, that imposes upon them the duty to try to understand the creed of their religion. Not to do so is to verge on superstition. - Mortimer J. Adler

Siphiwe's TestimonyI would like everyone to meet my friend, Siphiwe. We've been friends since Bible College 6 years ago, and he really has been a blessing to me. Without Siphiwe I would be, well, closed minded. He has taught me many things, and I've enjoyed seeing things from his perspective. We all need friends like this - friends who don't have the same background we do, friends who have had a very different life than our own. Today, he shared a very, truly, amazing testimony with me. Here is Siphiwe's testimony:
"Well this happened many years ago I would say about ten years ago while I was in High School. I had been suffering from Asthma since childhood and it would be even worse around winter times. My chest would block and I would not be able to breathe. I had to go to the nearby clinic for them to give me oxygen with medicine so that my chest can clear. I also had medicine that I had to keep at home so that I could drink immediately when I felt the symptoms. This
Living Ink IIThis beating mass of red pushes from my chest. The hope flowing in my veins, the pain intermingled. And I wouldn’t change any of it.
There’s a lot of things said about the heart in the Bible. That we need to keep His word in our hearts, to guard them from evil, like in Proverbs 4:23, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Psalm 73:26 says “My flesh and heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Our hearts are frail and imperfect; they leave us feeling incomplete. When we are cut and broken down we bleed the red that represents our sin. This is why God says in Ezekiel 11:19 “I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.” He transforms us in a way so that when we are broken in this life we may not bleed red but bleed life, hope, and endurance.
We can choose to believe in God and
A Soldier's LayA Soldier's Lay (lay n. a simple narrative poem)
How can I dare speak, cast down
Like a heavy backpack full of rusty axes,
The truth of my experience without shirk,
For good, not ill to me or others,
To give faithful witness to
What unseen evidence pervades it all--
I lay down my arms, You to trust.
What can I say of the past,
That countless words and prayers could begin to patch--
Such rests in Your hands--let me describe today.
Nay, not even from dawn until dusk,
But when I lay down to rest,
Or from when I wake, before I can rise,
The wounds of war assail me new.
All the while You stand, head cocked,
Listening, not so much to the words of my pain,
As the lance of unrepressed thought pierces me
Through the bandage beneath my armor
And the clothes I wear each day,
But rather, for something in the distance
I cannot see or hear, or know.
All the while I bleed, You wait
Watching patiently from the corner of Your eye,
As the rest of untested faith avoids me
Through a storm of lies an
My Untraveled Road (My Story)Pre-Load:
We all live our lives, our body, our soul but the way we live them can change everything. We all hit hard times, sometimes times that take us down to our core, in the darkest time that we didn't know we could survive in. The question "Why am I here" and "Whats my purpose" comes up and make us feel like were not the same to our self's. These things can shape us on what road we take in life. What road will you take? A way of change or comfortable? A way of known or hidden? A way of taken or new? Not all these roads are right or wrong its when you apply them and how you do. What ever road you choose will have a change on more then the road itself, it will choose how you will be shaped. I taken many roads some that I'm glad that I've taken while others I'm not but every way I took shaped me to who I am and I'm not ashamed to share my victory's and failures on the paths I've took and will take. Here's the road I took... my untraveled road.
Grace and Faith Today I read an article from the Catholic magazine, The Word Among Us (Jan/Feb 2015) about the interconnection between grace and faith. It compares grace to the net firemen hold below a burning building, and faith to our decision to trust the firefighters and net and jump. Our decision to leap into the arms of Christ is the only way to be safe, it is a decision of life over death, and it is not a one-time choice, but one we are faced with every day. When we choose to make the Lord our refuge, our stronghold, our true repose, we open ourselves to an “endless store of grace and blessing.”
This is because we carry out the part of God’s faithful whom He promises in Psalm 91 to protect.
The article goes on to say that “God’s grace without our acts of faith has very little ability to change us. And our efforts, no matter how faithful and disc
Misuse of Fallacy AccusationsHave you ever had accusations of a fallacy that did not actually apply to your arguments? I know I have! Oftentimes, when people accuse someone of a fallacy, they do not fully grasp what that fallacy is, themselves. This is especially true of atheists who blindly throw such accusations around. At least, this was especially true of atheists from my own experiences. So, let us see the more common ones.
No True Scotsman
This one is possibly the most frequent, so I will get that out of the way, first. Basically, what that is amounts to an attempt to dismiss a counter-example simply because it does not fit their narrative. Rather than giving evidence that the counter-example does not work, they just assume it does not. Here is an example from one of the most used simulations of the fallacy:
*No true Scotsman eats their porridge with sugar.
*[insert name] eats their porridge with sugar.
*Therefore, they are not a true Scotsman.
The example given refers t
